Dr. Y. Luo Mechanical Engineering Associate Professor, P.Eng

Educational Background:

Yunhua Luo has a B.Eng. and a M.Eng. from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and a Ph. D. from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden.


Biomedical Experience:

Dr. Luo is currently a core member of the Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering. Luo’s biomedical experience stems from the following research topics: computational biomechanics, brain injury modeling, analysis and protection, and image-based bone strength assessment.


Specific Biomedical Courses Taught/Teaching: 

Dr. Luo is teaching MECH 4510 (Fundamentals of Finite Element Analysis) and MECG 7850 (Applied Finite Element Method) in the Fall of 2014, and MECH 3482 (Kinematics and Dynamics) in the Winter of 2015.


Current Biomedical Research:

Currently, Dr. Luo is working on understanding and predicting fracture risk related to osteoporosis, advanced computer modeling of closed head injuries, and using finite element method to improve hip and knee design.
